MONDRAGON held its annual Congress today at the Kursaal Palace in Donostia. Under the slogan “Strengthen and Generate”, 465 representatives (the total number of those present in the hall and those represented) from all the cooperatives that make up the Corporation gathered to discuss and approve key strategic decisions for the future of MONDRAGON.

A revamped tool for creating new businesses

One of the main decisions approved at the Congress was the update of the Interdivisional Expansion Fund, managed by MONDRAGON Inversiones. The aim of this change is to strengthen the tool designed to develop the businesses of the future more effectively, both by consolidating existing activities and by promoting new companies and business projects.

To this end, Projects of Strategic Corporate Interest (PIEC) will be identified and promoted more efficiently, with a view to creating cooperative employment, transforming technological knowledge into business activity, and developing new initiatives in collaboration with other companies.

As explained by the Chairman of the General Council, Pello Rodriguez, “MONDRAGON’s aim is to launch three new businesses of varying sizes before the end of the year”.

A forum for shaping the future

The Congress was opened by Leire Mugerza, President of the Congress and of the Standing Committee. In her address, she pointed out that this annual meeting is not merely a forum for taking stock of the previous year, but also a space for jointly shaping the Corporation’s future direction.

“We live in very different circumstances, but we all share the same way of being and of doing things, as well as common objectives,” emphasised Mugerza.

Rodriguez presented the financial results for the 2025 financial year and reiterated that MONDRAGON’s strategy is structured around four key areas: strengthening the cooperative identity, creating and growing businesses with a future, increasing social impact, and strengthening collaboration between cooperatives. In this regard, he also reported on the progress of the fifteen priority strategic projects.

Growth and investment

During the Congress, reference was made to the figures already presented in June, highlighting that MONDRAGON achieved sales of 11,322 million euros in 2025, 1 per cent more than the previous year. It had a workforce of 71,415 people and created 1,346 new jobs during the financial year. Investment totalled 406 million euros, bringing the cumulative total over the last five years to over 1,800 million euros, aimed at strengthening innovation and business competitiveness.

As part of its strategy to generate future economic activity, three new companies were also launched last year: Orbik Cybersecurity, Amets Power Electronics and Innkia, focusing on strategic areas such as cybersecurity, power electronics and artificial intelligence.

Greater social impact

Beyond its business results, the Congress has highlighted MONDRAGON’s social commitment. In 2025, the cooperatives and the MONDRAGON Foundation allocated more than 49 million euros to social action initiatives, collaborating with nearly a thousand organisations working in areas such as education, inclusion, the Basque language, culture, health, sport and the environment.

Furthermore, the Corporation has announced that this autumn it will launch a new digital portal that will provide a comprehensive overview of MONDRAGON’s social impact and the transformative power of collaboration between its cooperatives. According to Leire Mugerza, “it will be an excellent tool for explaining the social impact we have generated over so many years”.

Building the future together

The Annual Congress, MONDRAGON’s highest governing body, has once again served to reaffirm the consensus on the key challenges for the future: strengthening existing businesses whilst, at the same time, driving forward new projects capable of generating the economic activity and employment of tomorrow.
