PPC Technologies and Compresion TN win the first MONDRAGON Ventures Foundry Awards
The main awards recognized the projects with the greatest potential to become new technology-based cooperatives. Both winning projects will receive a specialized four-month acceleration program, valued at €50,000 each (€100,000 in total). The program will provide expert support in areas including business model development, financing, technology transfer and the creation of a future NewCoop.
Industrial Impact Award
The PPC Technologies project, from the Power Electronics Systems group at Mondragon Goi Eskola Politeknikoa, received the award from Manu Ayerdi. The project was recognized for its potential to generate significant industrial impact and create a new cooperative business by substantially improving the energy efficiency of Artificial Intelligence data centers.
Disruptive Innovation Award
Vicente Atxa presented the award to the Compresion TN project from the Lortek research center. Inspired by quantum technology, this asset stood out for its potential to create new industrial markets and transform competitiveness, leveraging the Basque Country’s leadership in this field.
Special mentions and specialized reports
In addition to the main awards, four other projects developing highly promising technologies received a special Promising Technologies mention:

Bioblue (Leartiker): A project combining sustainability and new materials, with potential for further development in collaboration with major fishing industry operators.

ETC Technologies (MGEP): A solution designed to modernize critical electricity grid infrastructure and enhance the stability of energy supply.

Koopai (Ikerlan): A project focused on optimizing data centers by better managing GPU workloads and contributing to European digital sovereignty.

Estio (Ideko): An innovative technology with the potential to improve working conditions and industrial productivity.
The event also featured a roundtable discussion entitled From Science to Business. Participants heard about the experiences of three successful technology-based companies through the contributions of Jone Meabe (Orbik Cybersecurity), Javier Ramos (BIOBEE Semiconductors) and Juan Gumuzio (HAWK Biosystems), moderated by Iñigo Martín (Ikerlan).
To conclude the event, Joseba Sagastigordia, Director of MONDRAGON Ventures, presented the 13 participating projects with their specialized Venture Estimation assessment reports. The document will serve as a roadmap to help them further develop their proposals and evolve them into future business ventures.
