MB Sistemas launches business in Mexico with an order for Gestamp

The Mexican subsidiary of MB Sistemas, the industrial automation engineering company owned by Matrici and Batz and forming part of the MONDRAGON Corporation, has recently concluded a $3.5m deal with Gestamp to supply a welding facility in the Mexican state of Aguascalientes. This is the first order for its production subsidiary, based in the city of Puebla, and a major milestone in the career of the Bizkaia-based cooperative as it confirms the success of MB Sistemas’ commitment to expand into the Mexican market.
MB Sistemas set up its Mexico facilities as part of an international expansion plan begun in 2014, and the set-up has opened the door for it to become a local supplier to the U.S. market, increasing its area of business.
MB Sistemas’ technical department in Mexico has developed a robotic welding process for assembly of car frame beams. After assembly and start-up of the machines at its production facilities in Puebla, they will then be set up at the plant run by the multinational Gestamp in Aguascalientes to supply these products as part of the forthcoming launch programme by the German brand Daimler.
First steps in Mexico
This new landmark strengthens the MB Sistemas Group’s presence in Mexico. Its sales office was unveiled last year and in June 2016 it opened its production plant: a factory with an area of over 2000 m2 located beside the Finsa industrial estate in Mexican city of Puebla.
From now on, the cooperative will keep a close eye on this market’s development from its central offices in Urduliz in the Spanish province of Bizkaia, in addition to providing support for the Mercosur countries, Europe and Asia. All these operations will allow it to increase its international sales, which accounted for 42% of its total sales last year.
MB Sistemas’ growth over the last few years, together with its clear focus on international expansion and RDI, facilitates its collaboration with the main automotive sector OEM manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers, adapting to quality standards and acquiring knowledge of all the relevant technologies. The prestige achieved by MB Sistemas has positioned it as a global supplier in its segment.
