Lieder Automotive opens new Borja plant to manufacture electric vehicle components
The inauguration of the new Lieder Automotive plant in Borja (Zaragoza), a project launched through a partnership between Fagor Ederlan and Duoli Technology, strengthens MONDRAGON’s commitment to a competitive, technologically advanced automotive industry prepared to address the transition towards electric mobility.
The new plant, with more than 15,000 m² of production space, 14 production lines and 138 robots, will have the capacity to manufacture up to 40,000 chassis per year.
Its structural components will initially be used in Leapmotor’s B10 and B05 models, which will be supplied to Stellantis’ plant in Figueruelas. The facility has also been designed to allow for future expansion, the incorporation of new products and the servicing of additional customers.
For Jon Zuazo, CEO of Fagor Ederlan Group, the initiative reflects a long-term commitment to industry: “We believe in industry, in the transformation capacity of our sector and in the importance of continuing to invest in order to build a competitive and sustainable future.” Zuazo also highlighted that Lieder Automotive was established with “a clear ambition for growth” and is prepared to incorporate new products, customers and capabilities.
From MONDRAGON’s corporate perspective, the project also illustrates the value of business cooperation. Iñigo Laskurain, MONDRAGON’s Vice President of Automotive, stressed that, in a context of geopolitical uncertainty and profound transformation across the sector, “the future lies in collaborating, pooling capabilities and addressing challenges together.”
