Amaia Ramos: ‘Ategi is the model that demonstrates the success of inter-cooperative collaboration’
Ategi is much more than MONDRAGON’s cooperative purchasing centre. It is an inter-cooperation project that is celebrating 25 years within the corporate group, in a period of strong growth and with an exciting future ahead. “Through inter-cooperation, companies will always be much more competitive,” says Amaia Ramos, General Manager of Ategi.

Amaia Ramos was responsible for welcoming everyone who gathered in the Tabakalera auditorium. She spoke about the past, but above all about the future. “We will move from just in time to just in case, a new paradigm in the field of cooperative purchasing.” What we are clear about is that “in the future, we will continue to move forward hand in hand with our customers,” Amaia stated. In her welcome address, she made a point of acknowledging everyone involved and, above all, highlighting the value of the cooperative project. “Ategi is the model that demonstrates the success of inter-cooperation.”
Celebration and analysis programme
Following Ramos’ opening remarks, Pello Rodríguez, President of MONDRAGON, took the floor to highlight the value of the Ategi project. He was followed by Josu Jon Imaz, CEO of Repsol, who delivered a presentation on “energy, geopolitics and industrial competitiveness”. Imaz addressed some of the key factors for understanding today’s geopolitical landscape and the future that lies ahead.
A round-table discussion featuring Julian Conthe, Director General for Trade Policy and Economic Security at MINECO; Judith Arnal, Senior Research Fellow at the Elcano Royal Institute and Independent Director of the Bank of Spain; Luis Mª Perez, CEO of Arteche; Jorge González, CEO of Ormazabal; and José Pérez, CEO of Fagor Automation, provided an opportunity for reflection and analysis during the event.
Following the coffee break and networking session, Alex Rayón, CEO of Brain&Code, took the floor to give a talk on “Artificial Intelligence, Business and Competitiveness”. The event concluded with a commemorative and participatory lunch.
