Domusa Teknik joins Ikerlan as a user member to strengthen a strategic partnership
The cooperative based in Errezil, Domusa Teknik, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026 and specialises in heating, climate control and renewable energy solutions, has joined Ikerlan as a user member. This initiative formalises the working relationship that both organisations have maintained for years, taking it to a more stable, strategic and long-term framework for cooperation.
This integration allows companies to actively participate in shaping the technology centre's research areas, assess future strategies and develop R&D projects with a direct impact on their competitiveness.
Beyond the technical dimension, the agreement strengthens the institutional relationship between two cooperatives within the MONDRAGON Corporation that share a long-standing history and a commitment to innovation as a means of anticipating market challenges and accelerating the adoption of new technologies across the industrial sector.

Key priorities and projects
In a context shaped by the decarbonisation of buildings, electrification, the growing adoption of heat pumps and increasingly stringent environmental regulations, Domusa Teknik and Ikerlan are coordinating their strategic priorities to jointly advance the development of more efficient, quieter and more advanced renewable heating and climate control systems.
This synergy combines Domusa Teknik's industrial and market expertise with Ikerlan's strong scientific and technological capabilities in artificial intelligence, embedded systems, electronics, energy and mechatronics.
The two organisations are currently collaborating on several strategic projects aimed at improving the sustainability, energy efficiency and digitalisation of the sector. One of the most significant initiatives is the development of a new generation of some of the quietest heat pumps on the market, facilitating their integration into residential environments.
This synergy combines Domusa Teknik's industrial and market expertise with Ikerlan's strong scientific and technological capabilities in artificial intelligence, embedded systems, electronics, energy and mechatronics.
The collaboration also addresses the challenge of reducing pollutant emissions through research into innovative solutions for biomass boilers. The aim is to eliminate particulate emissions and anticipate future regulatory requirements expected under European environmental legislation.
In addition, both organisations are working on the incorporation of generative artificial intelligence technologies into after-sales services. In this area, they are developing an advanced technical assistant capable of supporting professionals with installation, maintenance and fault diagnosis tasks, helping to improve operational efficiency and the quality of service provided to customers.
“Domusa Teknik's incorporation as a user member consolidates a collaboration that is already generating tangible results in key areas for the energy transition. We firmly believe that innovation must translate into solutions capable of creating value for industry and addressing major challenges such as the energy transition, resource efficiency and digital transformation,” says Adolfo Plaza, President of Ikerlan.
By joining Ikerlan, Domusa Teknik becomes part of its ecosystem of user member companies, which includes leading organisations such as Onnera Group, Copreci, Erreka, Fagor Automation, Fagor Ederlan, Fagor Elektronika and LKS Next, among others.
Jon Makibar, President of Domusa Teknik, describes this new stage as “an exciting opportunity to strengthen an alliance between two organisations that share cooperative values and the same vision for the future. We are convinced that combining our industrial capabilities with Ikerlan's expertise will enable us to accelerate the development of advanced and efficient technologies, successfully addressing the major challenges of decarbonisation and delivering real, sustainable value to our customers.”
