Iñigo Albizuri, Copreci Group Barbecue Business Director:“Industrial property protection as a competitive difference”
“This case has been long and hard but has been resolved in an extremely satisfactory manner. Copreci’s strategy and that of its barbecue business is clear: industrial property protection as a competitive difference. These patents were specifically developed to defend a solution initially provided exclusively to one customer (Char Broil) who then exclusively supplied it to a distributor (Lowes). It gave us a clear competitive advantage in the market, which is why so many tried to copy us. However, by then we already had patents in Europe, the US and China. By applying this strategy, we not only defend our solutions but also those of our customers, which is something they value, because it is not offered by our Asian competitors.”
