Fagor Ederlan acquires a major stake in the share capital of Comarth Engineering, leading manufacturer of electric goods vehicles nationwide

The aim is to become one of Europe's leading electric goods vehicle producers. Fagor Ederlan, belonging to the MONDRAGON Corporation, and Comarth Engineering, manufacturer of electric vehicles, have just announced an agreement under which Ederlan invests in Comarth’s share capital to become one of the major shareholders, along with the current shareholders, the majority holder Demeter and the founder Antonio Martinez.

Fagor Electrodomésticos, in creditors’ pre-contest

Fagor has informed the Commercial Court of San Sebastian the negotiations’ beginning, so to reach an early agreement on debt restructuring under the provisions of Article 5.3 of the Insolvency Act. Now, the company has a time of four months to expand the negotiations channels that are necessary to reach an agreement with its creditors, which began weeks ago , to meet immediate payments that will allow Fagor to normalize its activity.

W.C. Bradley CEO visits MONDRAGON Corporation

Mark Olivié, CEO of the US company W.C. Bradley, has visited the Corporation. W.C. Bradley operates a number of different businesses, and one of them, Char Broil, a leading manufacturer of gas grills, has been a preferential client of Copreci’s for over 25 years.This important visit took place as part of Copreci’s 50th anniversary celebrations. W.C. Bradley and Char Broil are companies with historic ties to Copreci, as the Aretxabaleta-based firm has been manufacturing valves for their gas grills for more than 25 years. Indeed, they started manufacturing the valves in Aretxabaleta; later Copreci opened a plant in Mexico where they continued to manufacture valves for this leading company in the gas grill market; and when the US company expanded into China, Copreci was right behind them.

Haier and Fagor to open factory in Poland through joint venture

Haier and Fagor have announced a cooperation agreement to establish a joint venture company, with the aim of setting an industry benchmark. The joint venture, to be held at 51% by Haier and 49% by Fagor, will oversee the construction, use and development of a new refrigerator production factory in Wroclaw, Poland. Company leaders from Haier and Fagor announced the decision today at a press conference held at the IFA trade fair in Berlin, Germany.

The cooperative founded in 1963 has organized a day of open doors with the goal of teaching families about the working environment and share with them its great day. Events will begin at nine in the morning with different guided tours along the production and innovation plants of the cooperative in Alto Deba.

Prizes awarded for the fifth “MAIER International Design Competition”

All the projects taking part were linked to the Colour & Trim field, which deals with the design of colours, materials and textures for vehicle decor. There was a prize fund of €15,000 for the winners of this year’s competition. A total of 93 projects were put forward from countries such as France, Holland, Italy, Germany, Spain, China, India, Brazil and the USA. The prize-giving ceremony took place on 6 September at the Automotive Intelligence Center in Zornotza (Bizkaia) and was attended by Imanol Pradales, the Director of Economic Development from the Provincial Government of Bizkaia; Txema Gisasola, President of MONDRAGON Corporation; and Jean Pierre Ploué, Design Manager from the Peugeot-Citroen Group, among others.

Junior Co-operatives will help set up new co-operatives in the field of education

The Enpresagintza (Business Studies) faculty in Oñati was the setting for the presentation of Junior Co-operatives, a new legal structure to protect and help set up co-operatives in the field of education. Junior Co-operatives will meet the needs of Entrepreneurial Leadership and Innovation (LEINN) students in their learning process and in setting up co-operatives. The Basque Prime Minister, Iñigo Urkullu; the rector of the University of Mondragon, Iosu Zabala; the LEINN student, Oihana Astigarraga; and the coach from Team Academy in Finland, Sari Veripáa, all took part in the presentation.

MONDRAGON’s commitment to internationalisation was endorsed in 2012 by the performance of its industry area which ended the year with international sales that set a new record of €4bn. Despite the uncertain economic situation, MONDRAGON consolidated its presence abroad by opening 11 new production subsidiaries. Its international sales now account for 69% and it employs 14,000 people abroad. The increase in MONDRAGON’s share in the BRIC markets (Brazil, Russia, India and China) is also particularly significant, around 20% up compared to the previous year.

Fagor Arrasate S.Coop.and Onapres S.Coop., both belonging to the Mondragon Corporation, are pleased to announce the full merge of their activities creating together the Company worldwide with the broadest catalogue of solutions for the sheet metal forming and processing sectors. Following the proper and legal time schedule, Onapres will be absorbed by Fagor Arrasate. ORONA ends 2012 with sales of 569.1 million Euros and a strong commitment to internationalisation with the acquisition of Grupo AMG Elevadores in Brazil

ORONA ended the 2012 period with profits of 83.4 million Euros, and sales of 569.1 million Euros, up 2.3% on the previous year. Fiscal year end reporting is also announced that Orona has purchased AMG Elevadores, the 4th largest corporate group in the Brazilian lift sector, constituting a very important step towards meeting one of its strategic internationalisation objectives.
